Gertrude D. “Sandy” Lessard, 88, of Manchester, died on March 17, 2015 at Landgon Place in Exeter after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Manchester on October 9, 1926, the daughter of Eugene and Alba (Tetu) Saindon. Sandy graduated from Manchester High School West and from Notre Dame Nursing School. She worked for many years at Notre Dame Hospital (now CMC) and at Maple Leaf Nursing Home.
Sandy had a passion for taking care of others, especially her relatives. She was very devoted to her family, especially to her husband, and fondly referred to her great grandchildren as “her little ones”. She loved to clean and home was her favorite place to be. As an eternal optimist, she truly believed in angels here on earth. Overall, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Sandy was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Felix R. “Phil” Lessard, in 2013; one sister; and five brothers.
The family includes one daughter, Judy Desrochers and her husband Gerry of Hampton; four grandchildren, Kim Coomey, her husband Bill and their children Liam, Rori and Aofie of Elliot, ME, Amy Desrochers and daughter Ninya Beckwith of Hampton, Greg Desrochers, his wife Jessica and their children Maizy and Cooper of Seabrook, and Meagan Richardson, her husband Jason and their son Parker of Hebron, ME.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church, 265 S. Main St, Manchester, NH 03102. Committal prayers followed in St. Augustin Cemetery Chapel.
