Obituary

Helene M. Fazio passed away peacefully at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center on Saturday. She was 97. Born and raised in Boston’s West End, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Zapski. After graduating from high school, Helene graduated from the New England School of art in 1950 with a diploma in Dress Design. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Helene worked as a seamstress with her own label and fashioned beautiful wedding gowns and elegant dresses. She also worked for many years with First National Stores. A member of the Sodality at St. Mary’s in Charlestown, Helene played the violin, loved to travel with family and friends and drew on her education by following culture and the arts.

The beloved wife of the late Michael J. Fazio, she was a devoted mother to Michael J. Fazio, Jr. and his wife Frances of Burlington, William Fazio of Wilmington, Paul Fazio and his wife Darlene of Centerville, Richard Fazio and his wife Kathleen of Burlington. She was a devoted mother-in-law to the late Karen Fazio. She was a loving grandmother to Marie, Tori, and Mikey Fazio, John Stackpole and the late Mary Margaret Fazio. The dear sister of Edward Zapski DMD and his wife Satoyo of Concord, NH, she leaves many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Saturday March 21st at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 4 thru 8 PM.
