WEBSTER – Patricia K. (Darters) Kalchbrenner, 77, formerly of Sudbury, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, MA after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Kalchbrenner. She is survived by two sons, Derek J. Kalchbrenner of Chelsea, MA and Jeffrey T. and Billie-Jo (Engle) Kalchbrenner of Pepperell, MA; a grandson, Landon John Kalchbrenner; two sisters, Maureen (Darters) Clarke of Kamloops, B.C. and Gillian (Darters) and Gilbert Mouat of Salt Spring, B.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kalchbrenner was born in China and raised in Naramata, B.C., Canada, the oldest daughter of George and Kathleen (Oatway) Darters. She graduated from Vancouver General Hospital’s Nursing School as a registered nurse. She resided in Hawaii, Chicago and Vienna, VA before moving to Sudbury, MA. She then lived in Northborough, MA before moving to Webster, MA in 2014.
Mrs. Kalchbrenner was a registered nurse all her life. She last worked at Wingate in Sudbury before retiring in 2010.
She attended Saint Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Sudbury for many years. She was involved in Alcoholics Anonymous and had maintained her sobriety for over 30 years. She enjoyed knitting and antique shopping. She loved reading history, especially about the English royalty.
Services will be held privately. There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, MA.
