Ronald White, age 81, a well known Provincetown native, died unexpectedly at Cape Cod Hospital on Monday March 16, 2015. Ronnie was the husband and best friend of Kathleen (DaSilva) White to whom he was married for almost 60 years. Ronnie was a Master electrician and owner of Ronald White Electric a business he started in 1958.
He was a graduate of Provincetown High School class of 1951. He served in the Navy and was stationed on the USS Hughes during the Korean War. During that time he also studied at Montgomery College in Baltimore and finished his education at Franklin Institute in Boston.
His life consisted of his family, friends, work and community and he enjoyed it all. For many years he was a member of the American Legion and served as commander at one time. He easily combined his social life with his service to the town of Provincetown. He was a member of the first Paramedic Class on Cape Cod and he was Captain of the Provincetown Rescue Squad for 18 years, former Captain of Engine Company #1. At the time of his death he was a District Chief. He was also a long time member of the Provincetown Lions Club.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children Glen and his wife Katherine of Dennis, David and his fiancé Debra Rios of Provincetown, Charlene and her partner Rodney DaRoza of Provincetown, Cheryldine Martinez and her husband E.J. of Provincetown. He was the father of the late Ronnie Kevin White who died when he was two years old. He is the grandfather of Jamie, Justin, Evan and Kyla White, Eli and Katherine Martinez, Mallory Sequeira and Jeremy and Laurel Felton and great grandfather of Riley and Olivia Sequeria, Jerrad and Cameron White and Noah Veatch. He was the brother of the late Bob White who died in August of 2011.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown on Saturday March 21, 2015 at 10:00am. Visiting hours are Friday 5-8PM at the Gately Funeral Home 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown.
