Lee Edward Ellsworth, 79, of Franklin, died March 17 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Carol B. (Swanbeck) Ellsworth.
Born in Boston, December 3, 1935, the son of Roy and Mabel (Quilter) Ellsworth, Mr. Ellsworth was a lifelong Franklin resident.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School, Dean Junior College and Burdett College.
Mr. Ellsworth had worked in the maintenance department of King Philip Regional High School for 26 years before retiring. He had previously worked for the Masoneilan Company in Norwood.
Mr. Ellsworth had been an active member of the Franklin Senior Center.
He was handy with tools and was always helping family and friends with fixing things.
He enjoyed music, especially Elvis, taking long walks with his dogs and spending time at his cottage in Rindge, New Hampshire.
Mr. Ellsworth served in the Army during the late 1950’s.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, Michael Ellsworth of Franklin, Jeffrey Ellsworth and his wife Karen of Charlton and Lee Ellsworth, Jr and his wife Andrea of Milford.
He was the brother of the late Sumner Ellsworth, Virginia Shaw, Barbara Story and Jay Ellsworth.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tiffany, Laura, Megan, Jay and Hannah and is great-granddaughter Isabella.
His funeral service will be private with burial in Union Street Cemetery, Franklin.
