Laconia---Hazel M. Thompson Eckhart passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 14, 2015, of Walker Street, after complications from a fall in early December 2014.
She was born July 28, 1929, Daughter of Perley V. and Leona (Chase) Avery. Prior to her move to Laconia, Hazel and Victor raised their family in Meredith Center, NH. She called this home for over 50 years. Hazel was predeceased by her husbands: Victor L. Thompson, Sr. and John Eckhart as well two daughters: Mildred Levesque and Sandra DeMarco. She is also predeceased by a step-daughter, Hazel Roberta Perez and by a granddaughter, Kimberly Thompson.
She is survived by her children: Brenda Walker, Rosanna Thompson, Terry Thompson, Larry Thompson, Elizabeth Connelly and Gary Thompson. Hazel is also survived by her step-children, Margaret Howe, Jacqueline Thompson, Frederick Thompson and Victor Thompson, Jr. Hazel also leaves her loving sister, Minnie May Sorell and husband Alex Sorell, Sr.
Hazel was predeceased by her parents; Perley V. Avery and Leona M. Avery and six siblings. Hazel leaves behind several loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Eckhart retired from the former Laconia State School and Training Center, where she was an attendant.
Her interests included the many gardens at her Laconia home, long car rides to new locations, completing jigsaw puzzles, word-search puzzles as well as reading. Her many grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

A celebration of Hazel’s life will take place on, Sunday, March 22, 2015, 1 PM at the Meredith Center Baptist Church, Meredith Center Road, Meredith, NH. The Reverend Robert Lemieux will officiate. A time for fellowship and sharing will take place immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
