Thelma Marie Johnson, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at her son’s residence in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Clayton Dowd and the Rev. Ronny Griner officiating. Interment will follow at Siloam Cemetery in Wilcox County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Johnson was born October 13, 1931, in Abbeville, Georgia, to the late J. P. Keen & Edna Alene Bowen Keen McKie. A former resident of Brooksville, Florida, Mrs. Johnson worked in the orange groves in Florida and retired as a bus drivers aid for the Hernando County school system. She loved her church activities, cooking, sewing and listening to gospel music. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Wilcox County and she also attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by two sons: Ronnie Burnette of Fitzgerald and Gary & Traci Burnette of Fitzgerald; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three brothers: J. B. Keen of Fitzgerald, Talmadge Keen of Brooksville, Florida and Larry Keen of Brooksville, Florida, and three sisters: Willie Faye Horn of Fitzgerald, Pauline Hitt of Fitzgerald and Catherine McCook of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John Johnson; a son: Darrell Burnette; a daughter: Connie Burnette and three brothers: A. T. Keen, Edward Keen and Marvin McKie.
