Charlton/Framingham
George W. Aptt, 88, a long time resident of the Overlook Community passed away Friday, March 13, 2015.
His wife, Mildred (Whiting) Aptt died in 1989.
He leaves a son, Jeffrey G. Aptt of Holland,MA., and a daughter, Nancy A. Todd and her husband Charles E. Todd of Groton, MA.
George was born in Westborough a son of the late George and Rena (Grey) Aptt and lived most of his life in Framingham, before moving to Charlton several years ago.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers; William Gray and James ‘Teddy’ Aptt and 2 sisters; Rena Herrick and Eunice Kendrick.
He served as a Corporal during WWII in the U. S. Marine Corps and saw action in the Pacific Theater with the 2nd Division on Tinian, Saipan and Japan.
George was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Stockbridge.
George was a former General Manager of Shoppers World in Framingham and also Vice President of Allied Stores.
A true Mason at Heart for 64 years, he entered Middlesex Lodge AF&AM in Framingham October 16, 1951.He continued his Masonic Journey through York Rite by joining Concord Royal Arch Chapter in Framingham in November 1955. He then became a Shriner in Aleppo Shrine Temple AAONMS in April 1956.
George was truly a Light to the Craft of Freemasonry and to his Community. He was a member of the Framingham Rotary Club, also the Framingham Finance Committee and served as a Town Meeting Member, he also enjoyed gardening.
George was also a member of the 2nd Marine Division Association in Quincy.
As per George’s wishes, there are no calling hours or services.
Burial next to his beloved wife will be at a later date in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.
