Worcester, MA - Harriet Alexander, 87, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus. She leaves several close friends, including the Tashjian family, who for 45 years referred to her as Auntie Harriet, her beloved Der Hayr Aved, Bernard Conlin and Clifford, Ed, and Ara. She was predeceased by a sister Beverly Harootian.
Harriet was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Dr. Sooren and Alice (Juskalian) Alexander. She worked as a model for various modeling agencies over the years and was known for being impeccably dressed. She was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Harriet enjoyed the finer things in life and was an advocate for abused animals. She was a life-long member of the MSPCA and was also involved with the Armenian Eye Care Project. She was a very generous person, donating to many charities to help others.
In keeping with Harriet's wishes, the private funeral was held at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour and burial was in Hope Cemetery. Nordgren Funeral Home directed arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harriet's memory may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour 87 Salisbury St. Worcester, MA 01609.
