George C. Affonso, age 71 of Somerset, passed away on March 12, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Rose (Cordeiro) Affonso and the son of the late Antone C. & Mary (Sebastiao) Affonso Connor. He served in the US Army Reserves, Corp. of Engineers during the Vietnam Conflict. Prior to retiring, George worked as a Supervisor for the former New England Power Plant, Somerset. He was a past member of the Somerset Progressive Club, an avid Golfer at the Swansea Country Club, was a member of a pitch league, in his younger years, he was a drummer for the “Cashmeres”, enjoyed gardening, and was a past owner of his own excavating company.
In addition to his wife of Somerset, he is survived by his children: George Affonso of Plymouth, Jeff Affonso (wife Kim) of Somerset, and Wendy Medeiros (wife Lori) of Berkley; 2 step sons: Michael C. Paiva (wife Michaela) of Swansea and Christopher Paiva (husband Keith Viveiros) of Kentucky; 4 grandchildren: Ryan & Evan Affonso, Shea Medeiros, and Marissa Paiva; a sister: Madeline Raposa of Colorado; nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Catholic Memorial Home for their quality care of George during his time with them.
