Obituary

Frank T. Knutkowski, 88 of Derry, NH died Monday March 9, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Knutkowski was born in St. Lina, Alberta, Canada on September 18, 1926 a son of the late John and Dora Knutkowski. He was raised in Seattle, WA and was a graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle. He served with the US Navy during WWII and was employed as an electrical engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers and NASA. He was a resident of Derry since 1989, and attended First Parish Church in E. Derry. Committed to the local community, he often served at the local soup kitchen and he held memberships in the American Legion Lester Chase Post #9 of Derry, the Derry-Salem Elks Lodge #2226, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 408 of Manchester, NH. He was also an active member of the AARP Chapter #784 of Derry. Frank was the 2001 Citizen of the Year, awarded by the East Derry Fire Department and received a 2005 Derry Living Treasure Award from the Town of Derry.
He is survived by five children, Aletha Walker of Tacoma, WA, Donna L. Knutkowski of Derry, NH, Frank T. Knutkowski, Jr. of Haverhill, MA, Carol A. Rychlik of Annandale, VA, and Debra S. Fletcher of Londonderry, NH, 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several great great-grandchildren, his sister Shirley Collins of Haines, AK, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth M. (Noonan) Knutkowski in 1988, by his second wife, Rosalie M. (Noonan) Knutkowski in 2005, and by a great-granddaughter, Bethany Boughner in 2002.
Calling hours were held on Monday March 16, 2015 from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Memorial services were held on Tuesday at 11:00am in the First Parish Church, E. Derry. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery, Haverhill, MA.
