Harold R. Jones, 88, of Medway passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Kathleen Daniel Nursing Home in Framingham. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Janet O. (Smith) Jones who recently passed in September, 2014.
Born in Saranac, New York on May 12, 1926, he was the son of the late Nelson R. and Mabelle F. (Washer) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a resident of Medway since 1953.
He graduated from Luther Hanson Trade School in Waltham and proudly served in the Navy during WWII.
Before his retirement, he worked as a self-employed machinist for most of his life.
Mr. Jones was a longtime softball commissioner in Medway and loved to garden and play volleyball which he did into his 70’s. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, N.E. Patriots and the former Boston Braves.
He is survived by two daughters Nancy Preis and her husband Douglas of Cambridge and Natalie Butler and her husband George of South Boston, a son Brian Jones and his wife Mai of Las Vegas, NV and a daughter-in-law Linda Jones of Upton. He was father of the late David Jones.
He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, March 14 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at the Medway Village Church, 170 Village St. in Medway at 1 p.m.
Burial will take place privately at a later date.
