Obituary

Charles E. McManus Sr., 81, of Brian Ave., Derry died Friday April 5, 2002 in the Southern NH Medical Center, Nashua. Mr. McManus was born in Boston, Ma, on January 28, 1921, the son of the late Arthur J. and Margaret E. (Moar) McManus. He had resided in Derry since 1986, formerly living in N. Andover, Ma. Mr. McManus was US Army veteran having served during WW2. Mr. McManus was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Brookline, Ma. Highway Department. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1617 and the American Legion Lester Chase Post 9 both of Derry. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Derry and a member of the A.A.R.P.

He is survived by one son, Charles E. McManus Jr., St. Paul, MN, one daughter, Charlotte E. Adams, Worcester, Ma, two grandchildren, his longtime companion, Claire A. Mulcahy, Derry, also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 10, 2002 at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial will follow in Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading, Ma. Calling hours are Tuesday April 9th from 6 – 9pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St, Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of NH, One Tremont St., Concord, NH 03301.
