Obituary

SALEM - Arthur E. Grady, 84, husband of Eileen (Conrad) Grady, of Danvers, formerly of Salem, died Monday morning, March 9, 2015 at the Essex Park Rehabilitation Center, Beverly, following a long illness.

Born in Salem and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late William H. and Helen (Sullivan) Grady.

He enlisted in the US Army in 1952, trained at Indian Town Gap, PA and served in Frankfurt, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1954 with the rank of Corporal.

Arthur was employed from 1954 to 1988 by New England Telephone, which became Nynex and Verizon and retired as the New England District Manager of Motor Vehicles.

He was a life member of the Danvers Fish and Game, a member of the American Legion, James L. Melvin Post 379 in West Boxford, and the New England Telephone Pioneers. He loved traveling to Ireland and spending time with family.

Besides his wife, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Debra Grady of Hollis, NH, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Paul Keeffe of N. Reading, Joan and Stephen Czarnecki of Salem, Elizabeth and Edward Morrow of Hampstead, NH, seven grandchildren, Andrea Keeffe Ricklefs and husband John, Clare Keeffe, Kathleen Czarnecki McCarthy and husband John, David Czarnecki, Kevin Czarnecki, Josiah Morrow, Eamon Morrow, a brother, Thomas Grady and his wife Mary of W. Roxbury and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Grady and a sister, Elizabeth Zollinger.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral mass 10 AM at the St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 260 North St., Salem. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 7 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody, MA 01960. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
