Obituary

Kennie Romans 97, of Shively, KY, died Friday March 7.

He was born to the late Christopher Columbus Romans and Sophia Butler, June 17, 1917, in Ohio County, Kentucky. He was married to the late Zona Romans on Oct 26, 1938. They lived in Ohio County before relocating to Louisville in 1942.

In 1936, Kennie served in the Civil Conservation Corps, part of FDR's New Deal, in Oregon from 1935-36. He also served in the Army Air force during WW II from 1945-46, in the Pacific theatre. He worked at Tube Turn in downtown Louisville from 1943 to 1962. After becoming a licensed real estate broker in 1959, he eventually began a full time career in real estate until his retirement in 2014. He served as President of the Louisville Board of Realtors in 1980 and was recognized as Realtor of the Year in 2003 at 86 years of age.

Kennie was a proud 32nd Degree member of the Masonic Order, life member of the VFW Post 3204, member of the American Legion Post 220, and an active member of Parkview Methodist Church since 1966.

Kennie is preceded in death by his wife Zona Romans and his son, Jerry Lee Romans Sr. He is survived by three grandsons, Jerry Lee Romans, Jr., Dale Lewis Romans (Tammy Fox), Bruce Marshall Romans and two great-grandchildren, Bailey Marie Romans and Jacob Marshall Romans.

Kennie touched many lives in his 97 years on Earth and will be missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Wednesday at Garrs Lane Methodist Church, 2020 Garrs Lane, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home and after 10 a.m.Wednesday at his Church.
