Obituary

HOLLIS/WINDHAM- “Evelyn” Florence Evelyn Guptill Emerson, age 93, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2015 at Ledgewood Manor in Windham with her family by her side.
She was born in Worcester, MA on Sept. 15, 1921 and was a longtime resident of Portland and Hollis before moving to Zephyrhills, FL in 1983. She returned to Maine in 2004 shortly after the death of her second husband.
She is predeceased by her first husband- Charles Guptill Sr.; her second husband- Lewis Emerson; brother- Raymond Rossborough Jr.; sisters- Alice Cody and Eunice Wallace; daughters- Bonnie Sprunt, Tena Dyer, and Clareece Grandy; and grandchildren- Arnold Dyer Jr., Ronald Brown, Donald Dyer, Leslynn Dargen and Calvin “Rusty” Dyer III.
She is survived by her brother- Everette Rossborough; sons- Charles Guptill and Clifford Guptill; daughters- Joelene Dyer, Sheila Griffin, and Laurel Dyer; and over 100 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ledgewood Manor who truly loved and cared for Florence for almost ten years. There were a few staff members that she called her favorites, and those individuals know who they are.
Visiting hours will be held this Friday, March 13 from 3 – 5 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road, Rt. 22, in Buxton. Burial will be in the spring at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery on Friday May 22 at 3 PM
