Obituary

John G. Galvin, 81, of Manchester, died March 5, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Boston, MA on August 12, 1933, he was the son of John F. and Sadie (Doyle) Galvin. He was educated in the Boston school system.
Prior to his honorable discharge in 1954, he served in the US Navy.
After retiring as Fire Chief for many years at the New Boston Tracking Station, John founded Instant Cargo Express Inc (ICE), a company he has owned and operated with his family for over 30 years.
He enjoyed deep sea fishing, coin collecting and following the Red Sox and Patriots. Very active in his community, John was a 52 year member of the American Legion Sweeney Post #2 as well as a member of the Elks and Mont Royal Club. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Galvin, his step-daughter, Sharon Marks, his brother, William Galvin, and sister, Jacqueline Galvin.
Family members include his children, Janet Sarno and husband Joseph of Weare, NH, Michael D. Galvin of Dunbarton, NH, Debora S. Galvin of Melrose, MA; their mother, Marilyn Sue Galvin of Manchester; step-son Robert Landry of FL; one grandson, Brandon Bernard of Manchester; a great-granddaughter, Rylee; his sisters, Arlene O’ Shea of Mt. Ephraim, NJ and Sally Kimball of Manchester; longtime companion Maryellen Walsh; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in St. Pius X Church, Manchester. Burial with military honors followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
