Obituary

Alice Lee Ash, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, March 6, 2015, at Pruitt Health of Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, March 9, 2015, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Ben Hill County, with the Rev. Greg Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6 until 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Ash was born November 23, 1926, in Bartow County, Georgia, to the late William David & Fannie Lorena Baker Lee. She lived in the community most of her life. She was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mrs. Ash formerly worked for Harvey’s, TG&Y, and Fitzgerald Underwear and was a Parapro in the Ben Hill County school system for both the Primary and elementary School for many years. She loved to sew clothing for her family and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles. She also passed along her love of cooking to her grandchildren. Mrs. Ash was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in the WMU.

She is survived by her children: Marjorie McCranie and her husband William of Fitzgerald and Marvin “Buddy” Ash, Jr. and his wife Teresa of Fitzgerald; her grandchildren and their spouses: William “Bill” McCranie, Jr. & Laurie, Scott & Dee McCranie, Brad McCranie, Lisa & Jeremy Miles, and Trey Ash; great-grandchildren: Jordan Miles, Landon Miles, Will McCranie, Harper McCranie, Nathan Mansfield, Logan McCranie, Whiddon McCranie, and Kayley McCranie; and a brother, Lewis Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Marvin Ash as well as seven brothers and sisters.
