Obituary

James Michael Gallagher passed away peacefully on March 5, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital following a brief illness. Husband of Patti (Riley) Gallagher of Chepachet. Son of the late John and Monica (Euart) Gallagher of Greenville, and father of the late Shannon Rose Gallagher.

He is also survived by his son Brian Jones, wife Kumiko and grandchildren Mika and Lena of Orlando, Florida; his daughter, Lindsay Jones, and grandchildren, Nathan & Olivia; his brother, John Gallagher and wife Lee of East Blue Hill, Maine; nephew, Phelan Gallagher and wife Holly of Harpswell, Maine; nephew Ross Gallagher of Brooklyn, New York; his aunt Helen Euart; his cousins Linda Kelleher, Sharon, John, Elwood & Leonard Euart, Michelle Wise; Elwood, Paul & Charles Vallee and Elizabeth Badger.

Jim grew up in Greenville, Rhode Island, attended St. Peter’s School and graduated from Central High School in Providence. Jim was a talented athlete who played Little League and high school baseball, and was a member of a championship St. Phillips C.Y.O. baseball team. He was a gifted artist and musician who played the guitar and harmonica. He was also a great cook who enjoyed creating meals for friends and family.

Jim served in the U.S. Coast Guard and while stationed in Seattle, WA, was a crew member on the icebreaker,”Campbell,” which accompanied the tanker “Manhattan” on its historic voyage through the Northwest Passage. He was also stationed in Portland, Maine and later lived briefly in Blue Hill, Maine. He was employed by F.M. Global in Foster, Rhode Island.

Jim was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. He was well-liked and respected by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9AM from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Eugene Church, 1251 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Burial Private. Visitation Sunday 3-6PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Make-A-Wish, 20 Hemingway Drive, Riverside, RI 02915
