Obituary

William C. Hegarty, 75, of N. Dartmouth died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Geraldine (Conceicao) Hegarty.
Born in New Bedford, he was son of the late Matthew C. and Anna M. (Bryant) Howland. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Acushnet River Safe Boating Club, Fairhaven. He and his wife co-owned/operated Hegarty Printing Center in New Bedford for 35 years. Mr. Hegarty was a Past Master of the Noquochoke Lodge A.F. & A.M. and Past Patron of Cortez Allen Chapter No. 161, O.E.S. both of Westport.
Including his wife, he is survived by 3 sons: Christopher A. Hegarty of NH, Steven D. Hegarty and his wife Carol of Westport and Alan M. Hegarty of Germany; 2 brothers: Kenneth Howland of Centerville, MA and Matthew C. Howland, Jr. of Warwick, RI; 3 sisters: Cynthia Dalrymple of Naples, ID, Sheila Oliver of Buzzards Bay and Charlene Genereux of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren: Jillian Van Natta and her husband Mick, Curtis, Elizabeth, Maura and Clinton Hegarty; a great grandson: Christopher Van Natta; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Potter Funeral Home at 7:30 P.M.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 – 7:30 P.M. prior to the service with a Masonic Service at 7:15 P.M. by the Noquochoke Lodge A.F. & A.M.
Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
