Obituary

Betty J. Landry, 86, of Hooksett, died March 2, 2015 at Catholic Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in St. Louis, MO on March 18, 1928, the daughter of John and Loretta (Bruntz) Karsznia. She was educated in St. Louis and graduated from secretarial school.
In January of 1947, she married Richard Lewis and with only a suitcase filled with a few items, took the train to Concord, NH. There she resided with her husband and raised their three daughters. After Richard’s passing in 1981, she fell in love with and married Michael Forgione in 1988 and they moved to Hooksett. Michael passed away in 1993. In 1994, Betty found the love of her life, and married Maurice “Red” Landry. They spent many years traveling and ballroom dancing together. Red passed away in 2004.
Betty worked for the City of Concord as a “Gal Friday” with Blossom Hill Cemetery for many years. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph and VA Hospitals and made weekly visits to Sisters of Precious Blood. Betty enjoyed countless hours boating on Lake Winnipesaukee with her family.
She leaves behind three daughters, Kathleen Blaney and husband Richard of Lewiston, ME, Laurie Gill of Manchester, and Anastasia Lewis and husband Jeffrey Dionne of Pennacook; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, MaryAnn Donaubauer and husband John of St. Louis, MO; one niece; and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband’s Richard Lewis, Michael Forgione, and Maurice Landry; and her brother Stanley Karsznia, who passed away at 7 months old.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Rd., Manchester. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery, 700 Bridge St., Manchester, NH 03104.
