Obituary

At the young age of 76, Loretta Hernandez took her last breath on March 1, 2015 surrounded by family. Our beloved Mother, GrandMother and Great-Grandmother will be reunited in Heaven with our unforgettable Father, Valentin Hernandez, and her Parents Joe and Mary Solano.
Mom, who was known to her friends and family as “Lela” and “Grandma Loretta” was born in 1938 in Ventura, CA where she remained a lifelong resident. She met our dad, Valentin, while he was in the Navy and they married in 1962. Together, they raised 6 children and taught us the value of faith, family and hard work. Mom was a full time homemaker who put her love into feeding all those around her. She was happiest in the kitchen and when everyone gathered together. Her motto was “the more the merrier.” Filled with kind-heartedness and interest in others, Mom made friends easily. If she met you once, she embraced you and would show you kindness. She always wanted to include everyone and didn’t like seeing people left behind. She attracted others by her wittiness, humor, smile, big heart and selflessness. For over 20 years
she was an active volunteer at Our Lady of the Assumption School. She would be best known for her amazing talents in the burrito booth and the strawberry shortcake booth.
Our mother’s spirit will live on through the legacy of those she leaves behind:
Children: Norma (Joe) Vera, Joe Hernandez, John Hernandez, Mary (Frank) Rodriguez, Anthony Hernandez, Theresa (Jose) Olivo, Mike L’Ecuyer and Julio Cabral. Grandchildren: Vanessa Vera, Frankie Rodriguez, Jessica Rodriguez, Veronica (Gabriel) Moreno, Anthony C. Hernandez, Miguel Rodriguez, Andrew Vera, Sebastian and Savannah Olivo, Valerie Rodriguez, Sabrina Rodriguez and Valentin Rodriguez ;Great-Grandchildren: Isabella Rodriguez and Camila Moreno Siblings: Joe (Jane) Solano, Charles (Helen) Solano, Betty Hernandez and Barbara Lopez, proceeded in death by Viola Parada. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Our family wishes to extend our gratitude to Susana Wink and Mariel Figueroa. You both have been angels sent from above. Thank you for the love and support you showed Mom. Because of your kindness our mother continued to shine. You will always be a special part of our family. To Vanessa, you will
always be Grandma’s side kick. Your bond and love for one another was very special. You were always there for her and she was grateful. Jose, your support and help with mom touched our entire family. For all those who supported our mother and family, we are eternally grateful.
Mom, we love and miss you more than words can express. We know your pain and suffering has ended and you have finally met your Mom you longed to know. Our trips to the casino, Friday night Family
dinners, going to Mass, the Holidays and every day in between will remind us of you. You and Dad are too well loved to ever be forgotten. Keep shining and smiling from above. Vaya con Dios!

Those we love don’t go away,
They walk besides us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
