Laconia-----Dallis “Sonny” P. Gilson, Jr., 76, of Barbara Blvd. passed away at his home on Friday, February 27, 2015.
Dallis was born in Laconia on November 11, 1938 the son of Dallis P. and Dorothy L. (Smith) Gilson, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Laconia. Dallis was a LHS graduate class of 1956. He and his wife, Carol, of fifty six years were high school sweethearts.
Dallis was a Master Tool & Die Maker. He worked for Scott & Williams, Davis Tool, and 29 years for Vernitron/Beau Interconnect/ Molex. Dallis was a member of the NH National Guard.
Dallis was a member of the Belknap Sportsman Club Range. He was a 32nd degree mason for the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Dallis enjoyed shooting, hunting, diving, swimming, skiing, snowshoeing and hiking the White Mountains. He was an advocate of hunter safety. Dallis and Carol enjoyed traveling together and traveled to all fifty states.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (George) Gilson, of Laconia; two sons, Tom Gilson and his wife, Karen, of Concord and Tim Gilson, of Moultonboro; a daughter, Stephanie Richardson, of Gilford; six grandchildren, Corinna Povoli, of Florida, Matthew Gilson, of Moultonoboro, Zachary Gilson, of China, Kara Gilson, of Keene, James Richardson and Owen Richardson, both of Gilford; three nephews and two nieces. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, William C. Gilson, Sr. in 2012.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia using the Carriage House entrance.
A graveside service will be held in Union Cemetery in the spring.
