Manuel J. "Manny" Miranda, 72, of Jefferson, Georgia passed away Sunday January 9, 2005 after a sudden illness. He was the husband of Joyce Franklin Miranda.
Born and raised in New Bedford, Mass., the son of the late John H. and Mary (Andrade) Miranda, he had lived in Georgia for many years.
Mr. Miranda was formerly employed as a master toolmaker in the aerospace industry with Rockwell Industries.
Mr. Miranda served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a recipient of the Korean Service medal, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the United Nations Service medal, the United Nations Service medal, the National Defense Service medal and the Good Conduct medal.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters Carol Reyes of Honolulu, HI, and Carlene Kirshhoffer of Jefferson; a son, David Richardson of Phoenix, AZ; five sisters, Catherine Foy of West Covina, CA, Rose Lomba of New Bedford, and Alice "Jenny" Fernandes, Julia Gibbons and Ann Leipham, all of Los Angeles; a brother, Edward Miranda of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
His Funeral Service will be held in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford on Tuesday January 18, 2005 at 11AM. Visiting hours will be on Monday January 17, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
