FALL RIVER – Manuel Tavares Oliveira, 69, of 948 N. Main St., died Monday, January 10th in St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Valentina (Cordeiro) Oliveira of Fall River and the late Maria Natalia Oliveira. He is also survived by one daughter Maria O. Santos of Fall River, four brothers: Gil Oliveira of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, John Oliveira of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Duarte Tavares of Fall River, Hildeberto Tavares of Fall River, two sisters: Maria Rosa Machado of Toronto, Canada, and Maria Moniz of Fall River, two grandchildren and two step-granddaughters, and several nieces & nephews.
He was born in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Azores the son of Almerinda (Benevides) Tavares of Fall River and the late Gil Tavares and a resident of Fall River since 1978. Prior to his retiring, Mr. Oliveira worked as a Machine Operator at the Wakefield Engineering Co. of Fall River. He was also a member of the Republican Club in Fall River.
His funeral will take place on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 8:00 A.M. from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 No. Main St. Fall River, MA followed by a mass of Christian burial in St. Michael’s Church, Essex St. Fall River, MA at 9:00 A.M. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Robeson St. Fall River, MA. CALLING HOURS WILL BE WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12, 2005 FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 900 P.M.
