Anne L. (Murphy) Nugent 88, of 68 Pakachoag St. died Saturday, Jan. 8, in UMASS Memorial Medical Center-Belmont St. campus.
Her husband, John J. Nugent died in 2002. She leaves a son, John J. Nugent Jr. of Hawthorne, CA; a sister, Elaine Maroney of Auburn and two grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Francis and Katherine (McDonough) Murphy and graduated from Notre Dame High School, Emmanuel College, and received her masters from Clark University.
Mrs. Nugent was a Science Teacher and Deptartment Head at South High School in Worcester, for many years, before retiring.
She was a member of North American Martyrs Church, the Notre Dame Alumni Assoc., the Diocesan Guild of Our Lady of Providence, the Auburn Senior Center, the Friday Afternoon Club, and she won the Riley Award for being an Outstanding Citizen.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 14, from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 9 Hammond St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Dr. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester..
