Laura Anne Abt, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Friday, March 6, 2015, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ben Hill County with the Rev. Fred Eister officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Abt was born April 27, 1933, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Ruth Hart. She moved to the community in 1984 and was a former employee of the Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Agency. She enjoyed deep sea fishing, shopping and cooking. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ben Hill County.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Michael Allen Abt & Jackie of Dickson, Tennessee, Paula Elaine Dressler of Hoschton and Laura Ruth Strohauer & Charles of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a brother: Thomas Simmons of Greenville, South Carolina. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband: John W. Abt, Jr. and a half sister: Winneva Simmons.
