WORCESTER-Nancy F. (Puorto) Ewaskio, 83 of 23 Courtland Street died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 4th in Saint Vincent Hospital after a long illness. She leaves her husband of 61 years, Charles A. Ewaskio, 3 daughters, Florence L. Forsberg of Worcester, Miriam A. Ewaskio-Singleton of Dobbs Ferry, NY, Angela M. Kazanovicz of Nothboro, a sister, Florinda Godi, 6 grandchildren, Eric, Angela and Victoria Forsberg, Alexandra and Nicholas Kazanovicz and Raffael Singleton, many nephews and nieces. A son, Joseph Ewaskio died in 1989 and her siblings, John Puorto, Rose Bruno, Molly Chiaramonte, Ida Puorto and Ester Paglia predeceased her.
She was born in New Haven, CT the daughter of Dominic and Florinda (Mormile) Puorto and graduated from Commerce High School in New Haven. Mrs. Ewaskio worked as a secretary for Saint Vincent Hospital for 15 years, until retiring in 1987. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. She loved opera music, enjoyed trips to the beach and spending time with her grandchildren.
The funeral is Monday, January 10th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. Benedict’s Abbey Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours are Sunday, January 9th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
