Obituary

Rev. Linzie J. Alewine, 74 of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 4 PM, Friday, January 7, 2005, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Charles Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Rev. Alewine was born January 18, 1930, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Carlos and Carrie Stephens Alewine. He lived in the community most of his life. Rev. Alewine was an Evangelist, a farmer and a nursing home minister. He was a former employee of Pool Chevrolet and retired from Irwin County Motor Company. Rev. Alewine served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.


Rev. Alewine is survived by his wife: Rilla Alewine, Fitzgerald; four children: Billy Haynes, Tifton, Jerry Haynes, Fitzgerald, Gloria Neugent, Willacoochee and Patty Herrin, Fitzgerald; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters: Fannie Mae Mason, Atlanta and Ann Cleveland, Trafford, AL. He was preceded in death by a son, Ellis W. Haynes.
