TEWKSBURY - Francis Andrew “Frank” Kerrigan, age 79, a well known and respected member of the Tewksbury community for the past 54 years, died peacefully Wednesday, February 25, at the Cape Canaveral Hospital, with his children at his side following a brief illness. He was the husband of Carol Ann (Ferguson) Kerrigan, who died October 13th, 2000.
Frank was born in Lowell, March 24, 1935, one of three children of the late Francis B. and Margaret (Barnhill) Kerrigan, raised in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.
Frank worked as the General Manager of Mancini Sheet Metal company in Billerica until his retirement. Since retirement, he had wintered in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where he acquired many friends during his years as a “snowbird.”
He was a communicant of St. William’s Church, and a member of the Tewksbury Wilmington Elks Lodge 2070. During the years that Tew-Mac Airport operated, Frank worked as Pilot and FAA Certified Flight Instructor.
He leaves five children, Karen McGee and her husband William of Tyngsboro, Kathleen DuCharme and her husband Leo of Tyngsboro, Francis A. “Frank” Kerrigan of Tewksbury, Robin Foresteire and her husband Frederick of Dracut, and Carol Kerrigan of Tewksbury; nine grandchildren, Krissy Arsenault of Tewksbury, Gerard McGee of Manchester, NH, William McGee and his wife Brittany of Westford, Amy Taylor and her husband Matthew of Winchester, Laurie Deranian and her husband Derrick of Dracut, Meghan DuCharme and her fiancé Michael Locapo of Westford, Kevin DuCharme of Tyngsboro, Matthew Foresteire and Michael Foresteire both of Dracut; eight great grandchildren, Alexa, Emma, and Joseph Arsenault, Brady Buyck, Talon McGee, Charlotte Taylor, Olivia and Jack McGee; a sister, Margaret Wallace of Woburn; many nieces and nephews; was preceded in death by his sister Alice McGovern; and was eagerly anticipating the birth of two more great grandchildren this year.
Visiting hours Sunday, Mar. 1, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His funeral will begin Monday, Mar. 2, at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.
