For several years, she and Newt owned and operated the popular gift shop, the What-Not Shop, in Pawcatuck, CT. Widowed for 16 years after Newt died suddenly on January 14, 1982, she married widower and former Railroad Salvage co-worker, Richard Kronk, on October 23, 1998, but sadly was widowed again four short years later when he passed away on July 3, 2002.
Doris was an accomplished poet and story writer and loved to travel, especially to Ireland, the land of her mother’s ancestors. She also adored cats, in particular her beloved Chloe.
