Obituary

Lawrence C. "Lawrie" Dolloff retired Deputy Chief Stoughton Fire Department and United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict passed away unexpectedly in Stoughton on Tuesday February 24, 2015. He was 83 years old and the beloved husband of over 62 years to Mrs. Shirley A. (Corbett) Dolloff of Stoughton, a loving father to Laureen A. Dolloff-Jasmin of Canton and Mark W. Dolloff (Fire Chief S.F.D.)and his wife Teresa of Raynham. Mr. Dolloff was also the cherished grandfather to Sarah Jasmin of Canton and Marissa and Lucas Dolloff both of Raynham. He was also a brother to the late Carleta McCarthy, Francis W. Dolloff, Horace Dolloff, Albert Dolloff and Edward Dolloff.

Born in Everett, Massachusetts, Lawrence was a son to the late Albert W. and Sarah C. (Coville) Dolloff. He attended Everett Public Schools and Wareham High School where he left at age 17 to enlist in the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Wright as an Airplane Mechanic during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1952.

Mr. Dolloff proudly served the Stoughton Fire Department and the Town of Stoughton for over 34 years. His distinguished career in firefighting began in 1958 as a Call Fireman, in 1961 he was made a permanent member of the S.F.D. in 1966 he was promoted to Lieutenant and in 1979 he attained the rank of Deputy Chief until his retirement in 1988. Deputy Chief Dolloff was a member of the IAFF, a charter member of local 1512 and also served as the S.F.D.'s first Arson Investigator for 25 years. He was also the proud inventor of the firefighter hand tool the "Sidekick".

Lawrie was a member of the VFW, NRA, and USS Wright Association. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends on Cape Cod, boating, fishing, bowling, golfing, and reading. He will be missed by all, including the "Coffee Gang" at McDonald's.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday March 2, 2015 from 4P.M. to 7P.M.in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Stephen M. Cook, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:45 P.M. at the Massachusetts Veteran's National Cemetery in Bourne. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.
