Obituary

Donald F. Rousseau, 83 of New Bedford, died on February 22, 2015 at St. Lukes Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Celeste N. (Rocha) Rousseau.
Born and raised in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Arsene S. "Mike" and Gertrude (Daley) Rousseau. He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.
Mr. Rousseau was a Korean War Veteran and held the rank of Corporal in the United States Army. Until his retirement, he worked in maintenance at My Bread Baking Company for 40 years.
He was previously a member of the Golden Raiders Drum & Bugle Corp of Acushnet, the American Legion, the Military Order of the Cooties, and the 40&8. He was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531.
Mr. Rousseau was a collector for many years at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and a volunteer in New Bedford's Summer Fest. He was also an avid movie collector, enjoyed biking, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was also survived by his daughter, Donna Camara and her husband Antonio B. of São Miguel, Azores; his son, James R. Rousseau and his wife Marie of Dartmouth; his daughter, Laurie Savill and her husband Brett of Attleboro; four grandchildren, Keri (Camara) Tavares, Michael Rousseau, Jennifer Rousseau, and Zackary Savill; three brothers, Paul N. Rousseau of New Bedford, Leo M. Rousseau of Acushnet, and Edward J. Rousseau of Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, February 27th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 26th from 4-8 PM.
