Joyce Faye Nix Griffin, 81, of Dawson, formerly of Tifton, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at Willson Hospice House in Albany. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Griffin at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. BJ Funk officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 22, 2015, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Griffin’s great-grandsons, Bradley Griffin, Levi Griffin, Josh Baker, Bentley Griffin, Wesley Griffin and Parks Casey will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Griffin was born on Dec. 30, 1933 in Guin, Ala. and the daughter of Claude Nix and Lillie Gilmore Nix, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Morris “Moose” Griffin, who died in 2009; a brother, Bill Nix; and a granddaughter, Melody Kennedy. She was a weaver at J.P. Stevens.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerel Morris and Patsy Griffin of Quitman; five sisters, Weader Ledlow, Elaine Weaver, Etoil McDonald, all of Guin, Ala., Janice Wolford of Chelsea, Mich. and Shelby J. Lambert of Eclectic, Ala.; her grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Sonja Griffin of Dawson, Richard Kennedy and Becky Griffin Baker, both of Tifton; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
