Barbara A. (Jones) Lopes, 87, of New Bedford died Friday February 20, 2015 at Sacred Heart Home. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Lopes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George W. and Alice V. (Joseph) Jones, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a member of the Union Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher for many years.
She is survived by her children, Stephen J. Lopes and Barbara "Sakinah" Abdur-Rasheed; her brother, George Jones; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with viewing prior from 10 - 11 AM. Burial will be in Peckham West Cemetery. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
