Obituary

Edward E. Heroux, 81, of Bedford, New Hampshire died peacefully at his home in the presence of his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer on February 18, 2015.
Ed was born in Manchester, the son of Ernest J. and Ellen E. (Brooks) Heroux. He was a graduate of St. Raphael Grammar School and Manchester West High School, Class of 1952. He was a member of the track and cross-country teams. He also played American Legion baseball. He continued his education at the New Hampshire School of Accounting, known now as Southern New Hampshire University. Ed worked for many years at New Hampshire Dental Supply and prior to his retirement was employed by the Bedford School District.
As a young man, Ed was involved in the Boy Scouts of America. This interest led him in later years to become an adult leader with the Daniel Webster Council, serving in such capacities as a Neighborhood Commissioner, Unit Commissioner and the Catholic Committee on Scouting. He received numerous awards for his service including the Wood Badge and the Scouter’s Key. He was also a Merit Badge Counselor for Troop 113. He was very proud of his grandsons Sean and Brendan Dubia who became Eagle Scouts.
Ed’s love of baseball led him to be a coach in the Manchester area. He coached the Sacred Heart parish team in the CWV league, winning the State Championship in 1974. He also coached youth baseball in the Manchester Colt and Babe Ruth leagues. He concluded his coaching years in the Manchester Independent Softball league where he lead the teams of Foxwood Homes and Art’s Drywall to Divisional Championships. If his team would get behind, you could hear him shout, “come on, fellas!”
In September 1953, Ed met the love of his life, a young Irish lass named Bridget Cashman. They were married and became the parents of three daughters. He is survived by his wife Bridget and daughters Diane E. Glines and her husband Lawrence of Manchester; Sharon E. Glennon and her husband Colin of Bedford; and Ann Marie Sopel and her husband Thomas of Auburn.
Ed was the proud grandfather of Sean Dubia, Brendan Dubia and his wife Kristina, Katie Glennon, Beth Glennon, Lauren Sopel, Christa Sopel and Amanda Glines Foss. He was also the great-grandfather to Aiden Dubia, Noah Dubia and Anna Gage.
Ed was a life-long member of Saint Raphael Parish.
The Heroux family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff at Catholic Medical Center; the Hillsborough County Nursing Home; Home, Health and Hospice and Manchester Urology. A special thanks is extended to Doctor Jennifer Packard and her wonderful staff.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, February 23, 2015 in St. Raphael Church, Walker St, Manchester.
