WORCESTER-Carl L. Tiberio, 76, passed away February 13, 2015 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Methuen, MA to Alexander and Caroline (Fiato) Tiberio.
Carl was a founding member of New England Super Modified Racing Association. He won championships at the Pines & Hudson Speedways. Carl won the first two NESMRA Championships at Lee Raceway in 1965 & 1966. He won the 1967 Heidelberg 150 in Heidelberg PA. He also set the track record at Trenton Speedway in Trenton, NJ. Carl retired from racing in 1983 while driving Featherlight Modifieds in CT & NY for his brother Butch.
He is survived by his son, James and his wife Kathy of Rochester NH; two grandsons, James Jr. and his wife Andrea of ME and Alexander of Dover NH; two great grandsons, Dawson & Cameron Tiberio. He also leaves two brothers, Joseph Tiberio of Berwick ME and Michael Tiberio of Methuen MA; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Georgiana Pandelena, and brothers James, Alexander & Butch Tiberio.
