Dr. William “Stan” Drew, Sr., 88, of Tifton, formerly of Tucker, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Brighton Road Baptist Church with Rev. Clinton Moore and Rev. Craig Nalls officiating. Stan Drew, Jr. will give a eulogy. Dr. Drew will be laid to rest Monday, February 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 21, 2015, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Brighton Road Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Hendrix, Lonnie Boyd, Ronnie Brooks, Doodle Thomason and Ray Metzger.
Dr. Drew was born August 1, 1926 in Tallapoosa and was the son of George Washington Drew and Nancy Pearl Howell Drew, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers. He was retired from Bell South and a member of Brighton Road Baptist Church in Tifton. He was also a member of the truck stop ministry at Pilot Truck Stop in Tifton. He was a Bible teacher for 50+ years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.
Dr. Drew is survived by his wife, Kitty Louise Jones Drew of Tifton; one son, Stan Drew Jr. of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; two step-daughters, Jessica F. Lee of Cohutta and Mimi F. Stevenson of Winder; five grandchildren, Kim Bond, Paula Lee, David Lee, Bonnie Stevenson and Zach Stevenson; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
