WORCESTER: Gloria M. (Ferrie) Vescera, 70, of 10 Melville St., died Tuesday, January 4, 2004, in UMass Memorial Healthcare- Memorial Campus, after a brief illness.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, Ralph T. Vescera, Sr.; eight children, Ann-Marie Sheehan and her husband Bucky of Worcester, Ralph T. "Rusty" Vescera, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Worcester, John M. "Jack" Vescera of Worcester, Stephen J. Vescera and his wife Debra of Holden, David F. Vescera and his wife Patricia of Worcester, Kevin P. Vescera of Worcester, Joseph M. Vescera and his wife Tammy of Worcester, Kathryn J. "Katie" Quinn and her husband Jay of Worcester; a sister, Christine M. "Teena" Atchue of Shrewsbury; 15 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A brother, Robert Ferrie of Worcester and a grandson, John M. Vescera, Jr. of Worcester, both predeceased her.
Gloria was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Robert and Bridie (Thompson) Ferrie, and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Ascension High School and a member of St. Bernard's Church. She enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Scotland, New York City and spending summers at Hampton Beach.
CALLING HOURS will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, in ST. BERNARD'S CHURCH, 228 Lincoln St., followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery.
