Obituary

Theodore T. Ambadgis, M.D., 84, of New Bedford died April 3, 2002 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center of New Bedford.

He was the husband of the late Rita (Tremblay) Ambadgis and the late Bernadette (Belliveau) Ambadgis, and son of the late Thomas and Helen (Kiniklis) Ambadgis.

Dr. Ambadgis was born in Brockton and had lived in New Bedford for the past 50 years. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Boston University and Boston University Medical School.

Dr. Ambadgis was a well-known psychiatrist who maintained a private medical practice in New Bedford for many years until his retirement in 1996.

Dr. Ambadgis served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Captain in the Medical Staging Service, and was a recipient of the Meritorious Service Unit Award and the World War II Victory medal.

He was a member of the American Medical Society, the Massachusetts Medical Society and the Country Club of New Bedford. He was an avid golfer and a remarkable gin player.

Survivors include 2 sons, Theodore T. Ambadgis, Jr., and Bruce M. Ambadgis, both of New Bedford; a daughter, Joan Elizabeth Martinez of Ojai, California; and 2 grandsons, Christopher Tetreault of Timothy Tetreault.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Saturday, April 6th at 10 AM.

Visiting hours Friday, April 5th from 4-8 PM.

Interment Pine Grove Cemetery.
