Robert P. Morrissey, age 65, of Woburn formerly of Reading, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital, December 31st, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary F. (Coakley). Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Mary (Monahan) and George F. Morrissey.
Robert worked as a state inspector of elevators for the past five years. Prior to that he worked for almost forty years as an elevator mechanic and was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #4. Robert was a member of the Woburn Elks and enjoyed traveling. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer with four hole in ones to his credit and was a long time member of the Meadow Brook Golf Club in Reading. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Assoc. 1505 Commonwealth Ave, Brighton, MA 02135.
Robert is survived by his son and three daughters and their spouses: David Morrisey of Woburn, Christine Pizzi and her husband Joseph of Medford, Carolyn Heffernan and her husband Kevin of New York City, Colleen Loughlin and her husband John of Woburn. He is also survived by four loving grandchildren, Mary-Kate and Tommy Pizzi, Mikayla and Matthew Loughlin. He is further survived by his brother Frank Morrissey and dear friend Patricia Hogan.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Tuesday, January 4th, at 10 am. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church 280 Main St. Woburn, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
