Obituary

CHICOPEE – Jane M. (Champigny) Dupont, 80, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 15, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at the Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on May 2, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Ronald D. and Edith M. (Dagg) Champigny. Her younger years were spent in Chicopee before her family moved to Easthampton where she was raised. She lived in Easthampton until her marriage in 1954 when she and her husband, Lucien, moved to the Willimansett section of Chicopee. During her early years, she worked for several local companies and later became a stay at home mom to raise her family. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. During her leisure time, Jane enjoyed roller skating, bowling, arts and crafts, baking, cake decorating and reading. She also volunteered for many years at the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield where she was a weekend House Manager. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a longtime communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett. She served her parish in many capacities as a member of the parish council, a CCD teacher, a member of Marriage Encounter and a coordinator for the Blessed Virgin Mary Traveling Statue. Jane was also involved with the Diocese of Springfield in several of their Outreach Ministry Projects. Following the closing of her parish, she became a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Lucien W. Dupont, Jr. They were married on October 2, 1954 at Immaculate Conception Church in Easthampton and were blessed with over 60 years of happiness together. Besides her husband, she leaves her three loving children, Debra M. Paul and her husband, David, of Ware, Luanne M. Pride-DeJordy and her husband, Brian, of Hatfield and David L. Dupont and his wife, Maureen, of Nashua, NH; her nine cherished grandchildren, Melissa Rose and her husband, Pete, Tina Paul, Sarah Dudek and her husband, Jaymes, Cora Paul, Christapher Pride and his companion, Alison Gray, Jason Pride and his wife, Stacie, Brian D. Pride, Benjamin Pride and Kimberly Dupont and her fiancé, Brad Bedard; her six cherished great-grandchildren, Cooper Rose, Owen Hebert, Olivia Dudek, Devin Pride, Nathen Pride and Ashtan Pride; her loving brother, Reverend Richard Champigny, O.Carm of Boca Raton, FL; her loving sisters, Lorraine Winters and her husband, Gerald, of Pocatello, ID and Annette Stebbins and her husband, Paul, of Cape Coral, FL; her loving sister-in-law, Marie Champigny of West Springfield; her loving sister-in-law of the Dupont family, Michele Hall and her husband, Jonathan, of Chicopee; and her dear former son-in-law, Robert W. Pride of Belchertown. In addition, she leaves her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Dupont and Champigny families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her two loving brothers, Ronald Champigny and Armand Champigny. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, February 24, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at a later date at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
