Obituary

SPENCER: Alta M. (Sears) Campbell-Greenlees, born December 6, 1924 left this world as she lived it, with dignity, beauty and grace. She passed away Sunday evening, February 8, at her home with her five children at her bedside, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her son David Campbell and his wife Deborah of No. Brookfield, four daughters Carol St. John and her husband Pierre, Sharon Lee and her husband Danny, Debra Killmer and her husband Stephan all of Spencer and Susan Johndro and her husband Bryan of Worcester. Alta also leaves 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her sister Dorothy Vinton and her husband Charles of Whitinsville. She was predeceased by two sisters Frances (Sears) Leroy, Mary Ellen Sears and two grandsons Richard and Scott Williams. She was born in Milford, the daughter of Albert E and Gladys L. (Judd) Sears. She graduated from Upton High School in 1942.

Alta worked various jobs in her lifetime, retiring from UMASS/Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Alta had a quick and lively mind, a sharp sense of humor and a zest for life and desire to see what was around the next bend. She belonged to Family Motor Coach Assoc. enjoying camping and taking family members along on their many adventures. She was the current Chaplin of the General Ebenezer Learned Chapter of the D.A.R and a member of the Daughters of Scotia. She was a member of the Worcester 7-day Adventist Church. She was an avid gardener, loved to knit, do crossword puzzles, genealogy and entertain friends and family. Most of all she was about family and was always there to help and listen.

A Memorial Service will be held on March 7th at 3:00 p.m. in the Worcester Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2 Airport Drive in Worcester with a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to the VNA Care Network & Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, Ma. 01608.
