Obituary

CHICOPEE – Corinne L. (Mayo) Rogers Bessette, 87, of Festival Circle in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 13, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on November 18, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur H. and Ruth (DiNapoli) Mayo. She was raised on Dale Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee and graduated in1947 from Chicopee High School where she was voted the prettiest girl in the class. She later lived in Belchertown for many years before moving back to Chicopee. She was last employed as a shift supervisor at the former Friendly’s at the Fairfield Mall in Chicopee. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul O. Bessette who was Called Home on May 30, 1991. She leaves her four devoted children, Kathleen A. Cote and her life partner, Jan Coughlin, of South Hadley, Alan P. Rogers and his wife, Sandra, of Bluffton, SC, Christine M. Longhi and her husband, Matthew, of Belchertown, and Paula M. Shonak of Sturbridge, MA; her eight cherished grandchildren, Eric and David Pelletier, Michael Rogers and his wife, Jody, Christopher Rogers and his wife, Joy, Zachary and Marissa Longhi, and Tyler and Katlyn Shonak; her nine cherished great grandchildren, Nicholas and Alyssa Pelletier, Hannah Pelletier, Alissa, Jackson, Sophia and Lillian Rogers, and Noah and Miriam Rogers; her cherished great-great granddaughter, Addyson Scott; her loving sister, Joan M. Hirsh of East Longmeadow; and her cherished niece, Beth Ann Connor and her husband, Tim. In addition, she leaves many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Mayo, Rogers and Bessette families. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, February 20, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
