Obituary

Juvina (Gonsalves) Dias, 92, of New Bedford died February 14, 2015 at home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Dias, Sr.
Born in East Freetown and raised on Braley Rd., the daughter of the late Manuel and Margaret (Santos) Gonsalves, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Dias was an active communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was formerly employed at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company before raising her children. Mrs. Dias later worked as a cafeteria worker at New Bedford High School for several years until her retirement.
She was a major supporter and volunteer at Greater New Bedford Little League and was an avid Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and New England Patriots fan.
Survivors include 2 sons, Joseph Dias, Jr. and his wife Linda of Scottsdale, AZ and Mark Dias and his wife Peggy of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Gloria Magnett and her husband James of New Bedford and Deborah Davis and her husband Chester of Alexandria, VA; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Carol Roett and the sister of the late Jenny Lopes, Eva Vasconcellos, Mary Dias, Beatrice Mendes, Clara Andrade, Lenny Gonsalves, Nelson Gonsalves and Hilda Ransom.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 10 AM at the New Life Pentecostal Church, 789 Main St. Acushnet. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, February 18st from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
