Obituary

PEABODY - Alice “Freda” (Dube) Johnson, 88, wife of the late John F. Johnson, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, died Thursday morning, December 30, 2004, at the Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village, Peabody, following a short illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse J. and Mary Alice (Bartlett) Dube.

Prior to her retirement in 1975, she was employed in Salem for many years as an information operator for Verizon, at that time known as AT&T and The New England Telephone Co. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Following her retirement, she and her husband moved to their summer home in Eastham, on Cape Cod, where they resided until moving back to the North Shore and settling in Peabody in the early 1980's.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by two sons, John “Jack” Johnson, a former teacher and wrestling coach at Brockton High School, of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Liberty, Maine, Frederick Johnson and his wife Lauren MacDougall Johnson of Gloucester, Mary Margaret “Meg” Levesque of Rowley, five grandchildren, Julie and her husband, Paul Skibniewski of Montclair, New Jersey, Daniel and his wife Jorie Johnson of East Windsor, New Jersey, John Levesque and Patrick Levesque of Charlotte, North Carolina, Captain Christopher Levesque, US Army, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, four great grandchildren, one niece, Ellen Ippoliti of Peabody and her two children whom Freda treated as grandchildren, Stacey and Andrew Ippoliti, one nephew, Robert Dube of Lynnfield and a dear friend and neighbor, Maryann Gahagan of Beverly. She was the sister of the late Robert Dube and Marion Gagne.

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 10 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 am at the St Thomas The Apostle Church, Route 114, Salem, at the Peabody line. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Burial is in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
