Obituary

PROVIDENCE, RI – Steven Paul Roy, 59, a longtime resident of Providence, Rhode Island, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 1, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on January 30, 1956, a beloved son of Roger E. Roy and Gloria A. (Paul) Roy of Warren, Rhode Island. He was raised on Lombard Street in the Fairview section of Chicopee. While living in Fairview, he was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee, where during his childhood he was an altar server for the parish. He graduated in 1974 from Chicopee Comprehensive High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Pro-Merito, and Western Mass Champion baseball and football teams. Steve moved to Rhode Island and furthered his education, receiving an Associate’s Degree from the Community College of Rhode Island. He was last employed by the Premier Thread Company in Bristol, RI. Besides his beloved parents, he leaves his loving brothers and sister, Michael J. Roy and his wife, Judith, of Belchertown, Jerome R. Roy of Monson, Elaine M. Crellin and her husband, Andrew, of Barrington, RI, and Dennis E. Roy and his spouse, Ty Kadoli, of Long Beach, CA; his nine cherished nephews and nieces, Eric Roy and his wife, Kathreen, Jeffrey Roy and his wife, Christine, Daniel Roy, Emily Jackson and her husband, Bo, Hillary and Matthew Roy, and Jackson, Alex and Elise Crellin; his five cherished grandnephews, Justin and Luke Roy, Ethan Roy, and Noah and Samuel Jackson; and his many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and extended members of the Roy and Paul families. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private at a later date at the convenience of his family. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to Jericho, PO Box 1039, Holyoke, MA 01041 or to Sunshine Village, 75 Litwin Lane, Chicopee, MA 01020.
