Gieselman, John E. of Weston, February 10, 2015. Beloved husband of Janet A. (Plume) Gieselman for 54 years. Devoted father of Laurel A. Forsberg of Ridgefield, CT and her husband Robert, Scott A. Gieselman of Weston, MA and his wife Mia. Grandfather of Abigail, Peter, David Forsberg and Conor Henry Gieselman. Brother of Sarah LaShomb of Pittsford, NY, Walter Gieselman of Rochester, MI, Susan MacPherson of Bozeman, MT. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John E. Gieselman, a veteran, died Tuesday evening following a long illness surrounded by his family at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland MA. He was 78 years old.

A native of Syracuse, NY he was a graduate of Le Moyne College and was an officer in the U.S. Navy following his graduation. After his discharge, he began his career in the financial services industry eventually relocating to Boston in 1969. He was a former Chairman of the Boston Stock Exchange and of the Securities Industry Association's New England District; former President of the Bond Club of Boston; former Chairman of the Boy Scouts of America Explorer's Program; was a member of the executive committee of the Boy Scouts Norumbega Council, New England Regional Council; former trustee of Le Moyne College; and was elected as Water Commissioner for the Town of Weston and was active with the Mass Water Resource Authority.

He pursued a full life as an avid athlete and coach, he enjoyed sailing, was a long time patron of the BSO, several charities and veterans organizations, and remained a devoted catholic throughout his life.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday February 17 at 10 am at St Julia Catholic Church in Weston. Visiting hours are Monday, February 16 from 4-8 pm at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley MA. A private interment at Linwood Cemetery in Weston is planned following the Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John Gieselman through a planned endowed fund to support Massachusetts General Hospital.
