ANDOVER: Mildred C. (Gray) Walent, age 87, of Andover, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at the Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover on Monday, February 9, 2015.
She was the beloved wife of Peter L. Walent, who passed away in 1993.
Born in Tewksbury on April 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John J. Gray and the late Margaret (Jennings) Gray.
Mildred was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1945.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Clerk by the Internal Revenue Service.
Mildred previously worked for the Gillette Corporation in Andover and the Transitron Corporation in Melrose.
She is survived by one sister, Marion L. Demers of North Andover; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mildred was the sister of the late Sara Partridge, Marie Kelsey, Ethel Baker , Margaret Lawrie, John J. Gray, Jr., George R., Charles E. William C., and Alfred L. Gray
Calling hours are Monday, Feb. 16, from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Oblate Infirmary, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
