Shawna L. Nygard, 31, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 30th.
She leaves behind her two children Isabella and George Nygard; two sisters, Amy L. Nygard-Shaw and Crystal Carr; two brother-in-laws, Scott Field and William Girouard all of Spencer, MA. Her nephews, Michael Nygard, Dylan and Ethan Shaw, Zachary, Caleb and Coby Carr; her nieces, Dawn Shaw, Britney Field, and Rebecca and Karlee Girouard; her maternal great grandmother, Dorothy Caradonna and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Shawna was predeceased by her mother Dawn L. Nygard, her father, George Berthiaume, most recently her brother-in-law Richard A. Carr Jr. and many other beloved relatives.
Shawna was a kind hearted, giving person who was always there when someone needed her. She loved to read books and further educate herself about different types of religion and spirituality. She enjoyed doing outdoor activities but most importantly she loved being with and spending time with her children and family.
Shawna was a member of St. Mathews Parish since she was a child but she also enjoyed attending other churches such as The Woo and St. John’s all of Worcester, MA.
Shawna struggled with addiction for a long time. She longed to recover and become an addiction abuse counselor to be able to help others in similar situations. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was always the light for others when in a dark place. When you think of Shawna, think of this quote by DMX

A funeral service will be held on Monday. February 16 at 10 AM in St. Matthews Church 695 Southbridge St. Burial will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sterling. Memorial Contributions in memory of Shawna may be mailed to the family to fund a memorial fund for Shawna’s Children 47 Main Street Spencer, MA 01562.
